Documents You Need to Rent a Vehicle in Malaysia
What locals and foreign visitors need, including the international driving permit.

For Malaysians
- A valid Malaysian driving licence (a P licence is restricted for some categories).
- Your MyKad.
- A refundable deposit.
For foreign visitors
- Your home licence and an International Driving Permit.
- Passport.
- A credit card or cash deposit.
Minimum age
Most categories require drivers aged 21 or over with at least a year of driving experience. Buses and large vans have stricter requirements.
